Gareth Paul Gates (born July 12, 1984, Bradford, Yorkshire England) is an English pop singer. He came second in the first series of the ITV talent show Pop Idol. Gates overcame a severe stammer through the McGuire Programme, qualifying as a speech coach in 2004 . He has sold 3.5 million singles & albums in the UK.[citation needed].
