| Shelbi Evans was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 21, 1982. Her entire life she had a passion for acting and theatre and was accepted through a scholarship program to the Stanton Acadmey Conservatory program (which was a highschool). There she studied the art of theatre, drama, and music. At the age of 16 she was discovered, while performing in the Academy version of 'Into the Woods', by a small indie film manager Robert Fullon. He offered her the lead role in his next movie "Hollywood," a flashy and witty comedy/satire. The only catch was that it was being filmed in London for 2 months, and she would have to be there during part of her junior year. She accepted and the movie landed her directly in the middle of Indie and cult fame. She finished out junior and senior year, while at the same time filming the movie "Falling Under" which was an Independent release but none-the-less critically successful. This catapulted her into stardom (atleast in Europe), but that is exactly how she wants it. "I'd rather be able to have the break that I have...its a beautiful thing!" She then appeared in "The Red Dress" a film in which she played Marilyn Monroe. Critics and fans alike were in awe of her uncanny resemblance to the late sex symbol. From there on she continued to have public rumors spread and even an internet personal attack where a fan made an alleged 'official shelbi site'. Evans went on to do her biggest and most successful movie to date, "The Garden of Eva Rose" with her self-titled "best friend in the whole damn world", "The Lord of the Rings" star Billy Boyd. For that performance she has recieved 6 awards for her performance alone. At this point she is working on 3 projects- a true-story holocaust movie, which is set to release in late 2005/early 2006, a remake of the cult classic "Labyrinth", and a cd debut which will be on selected internet and store release this fall/winter. On the CD she has said "this isn't publicity or money- i'm doing this for me- i wrote these songs, i produced this cd. I'm releasing selectively only with the hope that there are people out there who can relate to what I have to say, who can take something from it." Shelbi Evans project for the meantime is her London based theatre and theatre company 'The Redlight' with Billy Boyd. |
