| Uwe Schwanz is one of Germany's foremost international riders and trainers through Grand Prix in dressage and jumping. When competing on the international dressage circuit in 2002, he was ranked 4th in Germany and 29th in the world. He is currently one of the nation's foremost young horse Championship Riders and one of the leading Federal Championship competitors. He has won more than 10 medals in all 3 disciplines (Dressage, Showjumping, Eventing) and wins at least one medal per annum. In 2006, it was one gold (Dressage) and one Bronze (Young Horse Championship). Schwanz is a Master of Horsemanship (with distinction) and is one of only a handful of riders to hold the German Riding Medal in Gold independently in both disciplines, dressage and jumping. He was the youngest person ever to be awarded the Master of Horsemanship diploma. Schwanz is also the only rider and the only German to be listed in several international celebrity portals in the athlete section. As a trainer, he has, among others, trained the Argentinan PanAM Dressage Team. In showjumping, he was won several puissance competitions with his top mount Flight of Icarus, and in eventing, he is twice champion and once vice champion in event riding of professional riders. He has 4 dogs, and lives with his girlfriend of 20 years, Tina, who is a vet and a dressage rider through Grand Prix. His favorite food is Italian. He has his own fan club who travel to shows with him regularly. Schwanz was born in 1963 in Bremen, Germany, but his maternal grandmother is British. He speaks fluent English. He now operates from his own training yard in Southern Germany, where he trains many national and international riders of high standing. He is said to have a "golden buttom" and has the reputation of being able to make any horse he rides perform to the best of its ability. Known as one of the most handsome and best dressed riders on the circuit, he was won numerous international celebrity photo combats, winning against the likes of Brad Pitt, George Clooney and David Beckham. |
