| Vicki Zhao (Simplified Chinese: 赵薇; Traditional Chinese: 趙薇; Pinyin: Zhào Wēi; born March 12, 1976) is a Mainland Chinese film actress and pop singer. She was born and raised in Wuhu, Anhui Province, China. Zhao graduated from Beijing Film Academy in 2000. She quickly became prominently popular while playing Little Swallow in the television series Huanzhu Princess (還珠格格). She was the first superstar in the modern Chinese movie/TV industry with international fame, even though she has remained as one of the most controversial actresses in China.[1] Recently she won an award for the popular female singer in mainland China for her music video "Shang Guan Yan and I." |
